On the May 22 International Biodiversity Day, everyone has a role to play as a responsible part of our ecosystem. Through galvanizing the efforts of its users and partners, XAG actively supports global actions in building a shared future for all lives on Earth. From developing digital technologies for agriculture to scaling up drones and robots in rural areas, we adopt practices that are aligned with the 22 actions for biodiversity issued by UN Biodiversity. Here are some of the positive impacts you and I together create on our planet.
Action 2: Restore an area, near or far
Flying over a pasture infested with notorious weeds, XAG Agricultural Drone was on a mission to curb the spread of the African Lovegrass and restore ecological balance. (Australia, 2021)
Action 6: Plant (native) trees, shrubs and plants
A forest restoration project was launched by Federal University of Parana and XAG’s partner Timber. Drone spread local tree seeds on hard-to-reach terrains as one of the efficient solution and an alternative to manual labour. (Brazil, 2021)
Action 7: Consume responsibly
In XAG headquarter, we built the SuperX Café for our employees to enjoy coffee break and communicate with colleagues. In addition to promoting the “bring your own cups” discount, we design a special reusable cups made from coffee grounds that encourages employees to implement the habit of consuming responsibly. (Guangzhou, China, 2021)
Action 8: Save energy
After installing the XAG AutoPilot Console, diesel tractors are turned into self-driving machine that can navigate at centimeter-level accuracy. Avoid detour and extra waste on fossil energy. Now plastic mulching can be more efficient and energy saving in cotton planting. (Northwest China, 2021)
Action 16: Minimize waste
Every droplet counts on earth. XAG Agricultural Drone is capable of spraying with high precision to save water and reduce pesticide use in agriculture. Promoting soil health from chemical pollution. (China, 2021)
Action 18: Support biodiversity-friendly companies
When the horticulture producers are faced with labour shortage, XAG R150 unmanned ground vehicle becomes a good helper in greenhouse farming. The Australian service team has been working with local farms to care for their vegetable crops at lower costs. (Australia, 2021)
Action 21: Empower someone
Empowered by the inclusive digital technologies, more rural women now start new careers as drone pilots, trainers, and agricultural entrepreneurs. Working on farm with high tech to preserve nature, she is more powerful than you think. (Japan, 2021)
Action 21: Empower someone
Smallholder farmers play the leading role in creating biodiversity-friendly countryside. We work with global partners to train farmers on skills to operate autonomous farming machines and so they can better benefit from technology. (Cambodia, 2021)
Do not hesitate. Take action from now to protect biodiversity and celebrate this international anniversary by sharing these stories with anyone matters.
